Who was Steven C. Jordon?
Steven C. Jordon was born and raised by his mother and grandmother in North Philadelphia. He attended Vaux Junior High, graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School, and was the first and only from his immediate family to attend college. It took him 6 years, and he had to pay his way through it, but he did it. He was a proud graduate of Saint Augustine’s University, a HBCU in Raleigh, NC, with a double major in Business Management and Accounting. Working his way up from an entry level position, Steve retired after 23 years of leadership with the esteemed title Director of Customer Service, Administration and Labor Relations at a utility company in Philadelphia. He was a man of God, a husband of 44 years, and a father of 2 HBCU graduates. Steve was a man of many hats, and held a genuine passion for motivational speaking and uplifting others. He was a fixture in the neighborhood of his youth, dedicating years of time and energy into creating and running the Philadelphia North Basketball Association as a volunteer. Steve also played an integral role in establishing the “Dare to Imagine My Career” program at his church as a volunteer. His legacy of academic excellence, community service and leadership positively impacted everyone that crossed his path.
